I came down with real flu on Monday afternoon. Vomiting, sore limbs/head, coughing and spluttering. Very sudden and very debilitating. Cleared the diary for the evening and Tuesday. Haven't slept much, but needed to get to church for the 7.30am Communion & Ashes service. Nose ran thoughout the service.... managed to avoid dripping on the table and got Nick to organise the reading and distributing. We got through relatively well. I always marvel at how difficult it is to get a good cross on the forehead.....some people leave with only a smudge. We're encouraging the church to be fasting on Wednesdays through Lent, which in my case is no hardship today as I have absolutely no appetite. Think I need to rest now.
The joy of the day was to see the new lighting system taking shape. After the years of watching our dilapidated lights slowly succumbing to the vagaries of age, it's a delight to see modern units in place which do the job well. It's quite exciting. The sparks commented to me this morning, "The downside is that you'll see your electricity bill shoot up becasue all your lights are now working!"
